Blending Beauty With Functionality

The Farm at Okefenokee is a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of regenerative agriculture, with its most striking feature to date being the standing gardens that grace its landscape. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of the Okefenokee region, these gardens are not just a sight to behold but a marvel of agricultural innovation.

At first glance, the standing gardens resemble an array of crops, each carefully constructed to maximize space and sunlight exposure. However, a closer inspection reveals a diverse assembly of crops ranging from leafy greens to vibrant herbs and vegetables. A staff favorite is the Purple of Sicily, highlighted in our January newsletter. There’s also a wide variety of carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and much more.

One of the defining characteristics of the standing gardens is their reliance on sustainable practices. Everything grown at The Farm is non-GMO. We place a strong emphasis on sustainable cultivation methods, refraining from synthetic pesticides and fertilizers in favor of natural alternatives. Companion planting and crop rotation are just a few of the strategies employed to maintain soil health and biodiversity.

But what truly sets the standing gardens apart is their integration of technology with traditional farming practices. Beyond their practical benefits, the standing gardens serve as a symbol of resilience and adaptation in the face of environmental challenges such as degradation and climate change.

Moreover, our standing gardens are not just a source of sustenance but also a place of beauty and tranquility. Visitors are invited to wander through the winding pathways, marveling at the vibrant colors of the fresh vegetables. Our tours offer insight into the inner workings of the gardens, highlighting the importance of sustainable agriculture and inspiring others to follow suit.
